Trucking Insurance FAQ
What coverages does a trucking company need?
At minimum, for-hire interstate carriers need primary auto liability with a federal filing. Most also need motor truck cargo (brokers require it), physical damage for their equipment, and often general liability, occupational accident or workers' comp depending on how drivers are classified.
How much does trucking insurance cost?
Premiums depend on driver experience, years in business, radius, commodities, equipment values, garaging location and loss history. Two carriers can price the same truck very differently, which is why shopping multiple carriers matters.
How fast can I get covered?
Once we have your information and you choose a policy, coverage can often be bound the same day, and certificates issued immediately after. Federal filings typically follow within a few business days.
What do I need to get a trucking quote?
Your DOT/MC number (if you have one), driver names, dates of birth, license numbers and years of CDL experience, VINs and values for each unit, the commodities you haul, your operating radius, and 3 to 5 years of loss runs if you've been insured before.
Can you help if I've had accidents or violations?
Yes. Some carriers specialize in operators with less-than-perfect records. Be upfront with us and we'll find the most competitive option available.
